So I have been on this kick to find out more and more about the upcoming Transformers movie, since I was (and according to my wife still am) a child of 80's cartoons! I have some news dug up from all over the web, and I'm not entirely sure that Michael Bay wants people to see all of it, but to quote Mr. Universe from Serenity, "You can't stop the signal!" So here's the news, some good, some bad, and some down right UGLY!!!

The Good: G1 cartoon Transformer fans will be excited that they signed the original voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen to be the big guys voice again! Bay would also like to get Frank Welker the voice of the original G1 cartoon Megatron involved as well as Megs, but not sure if that's happened! They recently released the names of all the Autobots and Decepticons and there are some really cool names on the list! For the Autobots we've got G1 favs, Jazz, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet and of course Optimus Prime! For the Decepticons,it breaks down with, Megatron, Starscream, Scorpinok, Brawl, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Frenzy, Blackout and Incinerator. Don't know too many of those names other than Megs, Starscream, Scorpinok and Frenzy. Lot's of bots to choose from, and I think they picked some good ones, but notably they did skip over a lot of fan favs!

Also have a link to some cool set photos, where you can see Bumblebee, Jazz, Ironhide and Ratchet in their vehicle modes, along with some secret set video of Jazz and Ironhide driving by! Though you might not recognize them, see the bad!

The Bad: They are changing the look of the Transformers from any version you might be a fan of! That's right, whether you're a old 80's G1 fan like myself or a new Armada and Cybertron fan of today, they will not resemble anything you know and love. Some notable changes, Bumblebee is a Camaro, yup not a VW, a Camaro! Ironhide is a huge GMC truck (though that's actually a good change in my book) and Ratchet, is no longer an Ambulance, but a Yellow Fire and Rescue truck! Optimus looks like he's been pimped out by MTV, check out those flames! Don't even get me started on the Decepticons, they belong in the UGLY category, so....

The UGLY: Some recent images of preliminary artwork has surfaced and though they all look pretty lame, the Decpeticons just look like crap! Starscream looks like the offspring of Optimus Primal and Waspinator! What are they thinking?! Incinerator looks okay, but not knowing what he may or may not have looked like before hand is definitely a factor, but what they heck is wrong with his face! Megatron is the biggest disappointment. He looks horrible! He looks like some cheesy Sci-Fi channel TV movie alien, rather than the bad ass Decepticon leader we know and love! I wasn't expecting him to be a big gun, but I surely didn't expect him to look like a Transformers turd! Bumblebee looks awful too, just check out the link to pics of his face! Is he sucking on a pacifier?! Why?! Officially the studio response has been these are preliminary concepts for the toys, but I'm sure they're close to what will be seen in the film. Boo!

So it looks like Transformer fans are getting the big "FU" finger from Michael Bay! I can appreciate wanting to make some changes to the bots but to drastically change them from anything that fans have watched, loved and grown up on is pretty shady in my book! No doubt this movie will be exciting to see, but it's a shame they have to disregard what the fans love about Transformers in order to make "their" movie!

Well, to quote Shang Tsung from the Mortal Kombat movie, "It has begun!!!"

I just got a note from the powers that be that my deviation "Mistress Shego and her Slave" has been deleted due to "policy violation"! I can't say I'm too surprised by this, I'm actually surprised that it was the only one! I have a feeling it's only the beginning though. It's funny too because I actually took pretty good steps to make it so that underage kids couldn't see it. You had to be subscribed and I had a thumbnail before the image so you couldn't just stumble on it. I understand it was deleted because of the way Kimmie was depicted in the picture too, seeing as how the character is underage on the original show. It's all good, I guess it's kind of flattering that my little drawing provoked that much of a reaction by someone(s) to make them want to have DevART go after it! Isn't that the point of art, to provoke a reaction? So I can't be mad at this. I think though that my other Kim Possible, Kigo and probably Teen Titan's pics may be in trouble soon, so if you like them but haven't already saved them, you might want to get to it!

I did open a Furaffinity.net account [link] so I'll most likely just take them from here and move them to there so as not to offend anyone else and keep DevART happy! I actually like DevART. I know some of the people I watch who have had this happen to them go on an on about how they're done with it and can't stand this place, but I mean it's a free site to host your artwork that a lot of people can see it! If you really are that mad at the policies, then quit your bitching and get your own website URL! That way you can be the boss.

Well anyway, enough of the soapbox routine! I'm working on new art, actually got a few local area paying gigs and I might be working on some Indie comics, but can't say for sure on that one just yet! I'm finishing a long over due commission for someone, (sorry Mark if you see this, I promise you'll be happy this week though) and I'm rethinking my commission rates so I can get some more work! Rates will be lowering and also getting "creative", but more on that in a later journal!
